RESIDENTIAL VENTILATION SIMULATION PROGRAM

ON-LINE ANALYSIS program for estimating the annual ventilation
and related energy and cost liabilities for U.S. houses.

This program uses the knowledge and databases resident at LBNL to allow the user to calculate residential ventilation for any house in the United States. The user answers a few questions about the house of interest, its configuration, location, and air tightness as well as some economic data. Both infiltration and mechanical ventilation are considered and the program has dynamic defaults based on field measurements.

This program calculates the ventilation rates appropriate for determining Indoor Air Quality (through ventilation standards) as well as the energy penalty and associated costs of both providing the ventilation and conditioning the ventilation air.

This program is primarily intended for those who have some familiarity with air leakage, blower doors, residential ventilation systems etc. It's described in "New Generation of Software? Modeling of Energy Demands for Residential Ventilation with HTML Interface" paper.
"The Use Of Blower Door Data" paper can supply some general background information. The data analysis method used in this program can be found in "Residential Ventilation And Energy Characteristics" paper.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the program please send e-mail to Jennifer McWilliams (JAMcwilliams@lbl.gov).
